The 76ers’ Andre Iguodala, you’ll recall, didn’t sign a contract extension reportedly worth about $57 million. Chicago’s Ben Gordon and Luol Deng, each offered about $50 million, didn’t sign. Neither did Charlotte’s Emeka Okafor, offered an astounding $65 million. Sacramento’s Kevin Martin did sign. The Kings offered about $55 million. Martin thought that was fine…
Who really knows why Iguodala walked away from the Sixers’ offer? Maybe he believes, if he has an excellent season, they’ll offer more? But if he thinks another team will try and trump the Sixers, he’s more than aware that they retain the right to match.
